Some may say that nothing prepares you for your first emergency incident but that’s not true. The training you receive is second-to-none and it really does prepare you. So when there is fire and fear around you the training kicks in, helping you, and the men and women in the team around you, to make rational, safe judgements which save lives and property. You soon get to know that as a firefighter each and every day the job can be exhilarating, exhausting, challenging and demanding. But it’s also equally rewarding.
And now Strathclyde Fire and Rescue have opportunities for you to join us as a firefighter. If you think you have what it takes, then visit our website and find out just how firefighters help make our communities safe places to live, work and visit.
There are 3 firefighter roles, Wholetime – which is full time, Retained – which is part time and Volunteer – which is on a call out basis.
What we offer you

Full uniform, including firefighting kit is of course provided.
